Are you a passionate and engaging Citizenship Teacher looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic Citizenship Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you'll inspire pupils to develop their understanding of society, democracy, rights, responsibilities, and the world around them through engaging and thought-provoking lessons.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and challenging Citizenship lessons in line with the relevant curriculum.
- Teach pupils across a range of abilities and year groups, supporting their knowledge and understanding of Citizenship and society.
- Develop pupils' understanding of democracy, government, the law, human rights, diversity, equality, and individual responsibilities.
- Encourage pupils to develop critical thinking skills and form informed, balanced opinions on a range of social and current issues.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages discussion, debate, participation, and respectful communication.
- Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to engage pupils and support different learning needs.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Encourage pupils to become responsible, respectful, and active members of society.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and respect within the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, parents, and the wider school community to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Contribute to wider school activities, enrichment opportunities, and initiatives related to Citizenship and personal development where required.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Citizenship and the relevant curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A passion for Citizenship and inspiring pupils through engaging and thought-provoking teaching.
- The ability to plan and deliver stimulating lessons that encourage discussion, debate, and critical thinking.
- A commitment to raising attainment and supporting pupils of all abilities.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
