Supply Desk are seeking a reliable, proactive, and dedicated Primary School Caretaker to join a friendly and welcoming primary school in Watford, starting this September.

This full-time role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the school site is secure, well maintained, and fully operational to support pupils, staff, and visitors throughout the school day.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and security of the school premises, carrying out basic repairs, liaising with contractors when required, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times. The ideal candidate will be organised, practical, and able to work independently while contributing positively to the wider school community.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well maintained.
• Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general DIY tasks.
• Open and lock the school premises, ensuring security procedures are followed.
• Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any maintenance issues.
• Monitor contractors working on site and assist with planned maintenance.
• Prepare rooms and school facilities for assemblies, events, and meetings.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including pathways, playgrounds, and general grounds where required.
• Support the school leadership team with site management duties and emergency procedures.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a caretaking, site management, maintenance, or facilities role.
• Good practical DIY and maintenance skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the needs of the school.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
