The role

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will be required to deal with challenging situations and behaviours whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner. The school may require you to work with pupils in a small group or 1:1 situation ensuring all needs of the pupils in your care are being met. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will need to be able to ensure consistency for your pupils, this means that it is essential absences and holidays within term time are not permitted whilst working within this school.

The school

This is a specialist SEMH school which caters for pupils aged 4-11 years who require additional support for their educational development and have an EHC plan. The school provides its pupils with additional support such as intervention sessions and 1:1 support staff to ensure they are all gaining essential life skills and progressing in their development in all areas.

           Requirements

  • Be available on a full-time basis.
  • Have a care / support / youth worker background.
  • Ability to deal with challenging situations and behaviours.
  • Have experience working to support children/ adults with additional needs- personal or professional.

          Key Information

  • Full-time - Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 3:30 pm.
  • SEMH provision.
  • Start date ASAP.
  • Caters for pupils aged 4-11 with additional needs, all have an EHC plan.
  • Competitive hourly rate of pay £11.85 - £12.33 p/h.
  • Able to work with pupils who can display challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner.
  • Skelmersdale (WN8) / Ormskirk based (L39).
