We are looking to appoint caring, resilient and motivated Behaviour Support Assistants to join our specialist educational provision in New Milton.

This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges or additional learning needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils feel safe, supported and ready to engage in learning and personal development.

Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals, you will help create a positive and nurturing environment where pupils can build confidence, develop emotional regulation skills and achieve their full potential.

  • Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Help de-escalate challenging situations using a calm and consistent approach
  • Assist with learning activities and encourage engagement in education
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and families
  • Encourage independence, resilience and positive social interactions
  • Maintain safeguarding, behaviour and wellbeing standards at all times
  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, care or support settings
  • Is patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging situations
  • Is proactive, adaptable and able to use initiative
  • Is passionate about supporting young people to succeed

Experience working with SEMH, SEND or behaviour support would be advantageous, although full training and support will be provided for the right candidates.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
