We are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming and supportive secondary school environment. This is an excellent opportunity for psychology graduates or recent university leavers looking to gain valuable experience within an educational setting.


About the Role

You will work closely alongside teaching staff to support students with ALN (Additional Learning Needs) and SEN, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.

The role will involve both 1:1 support and small group work, supporting students who may present challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and behavioural guidance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students
  • Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviour and engagement
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Support students’ wellbeing, development, and learning
  • Effectively de-escalate challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Encourage participation and focus within lessons
  • Support students with additional learning and emotional needs

Ideal Candidate

  • A Psychology graduate or recent university leaver (desirable)
  • Passionate about working with young people in an educational setting
  • Confident supporting students with SEN / ALN needs
  • Comfortable working with and managing challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, resilient, and proactive
  • Able to remain calm and diffuse situations effectively
