Behaviour mentor

Teaching Personnel in partnership with a Primary school situated in Preston (PR1) are looking to hire a behaviour mentor. Your role would be to provide support for pupils with SEN/SEMH additional needs, promoting good behaviour and providing them with strategies to cope with high pressure situations and feelings.

  • Full-time role Monday – Friday (8.30am - 3:30pm)
  • Previous experience in an SEN setting is desirable.
  • Competitive rate of hourly pay (£12.90 p/h)
  • Start date: May 2024
  • Student ages 4 - 11 years old.

The role

As a behaviour mentor your role is to work in small group or 1:1 session with students aged 4 - 11 years old. These students all have SEMH additional needs and will have an EHC plan in place to support the learning and needs. You will have to adhere to their EHC plan and differentiate your approach to meet each individual student’s needs, meaning you will need to know your students well enough to establish a trusting relationship based on respect, providing them with a safe environment to learn and build confidence, while knowing your students triggers and routines.

The school

The school itself is of a below average size, with good facilities and is easily accessible via car and public transport. If you were to be successful in securing this position, you would be joining a welcoming, bubbly team who take pride in their jobs and the quality of education they provide. On their recent inspection, Ofsted praised the Senior Leadership Team for recent improvements across the school and noted the confidence placed in them by core members of staff. This role presents an amazing opportunity for the right candidate who would acquire a wealth of professional development and a highly reputable placement upon their CV.
