Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Behaviour & Learning Support Assistant to work within a specialist SEN provision attached to a secondary school in the Newport area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils aged 11-16 who may have additional learning needs, autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, or behavioural challenges.

Every day is different. You'll play a key role in helping students build confidence, develop positive relationships, overcome barriers to learning, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

Whether you have previous school experience or come from a background in care, youth work, coaching, support work, or mentoring, we would love to hear from you.

⭐ The Role

As a Behaviour & Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Help students remain engaged and focused during lessons
• Build positive and trusting relationships with learners
• Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies
• Encourage confidence, independence, and resilience
• Support teachers in delivering engaging learning activities
• Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
• Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN professionals

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• Experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals
• Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• EWC Registration (or willingness to register)
• Two professional references covering the last 24 months
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
