Supply Desk is seeking a caring and proactive Autism Support Assistant to join a specialist school in the Chichester area. This rewarding role involves supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence in a structured and nurturing environment.
Working alongside experienced teachers and therapists, you'll play a vital role in creating positive learning experiences that enable every pupil to thrive.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism.
- Assist with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
- Support sensory activities and structured classroom routines.
- Encourage independence and positive behaviour.
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to meet individual targets.
- Help maintain a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote pupil wellbeing and progress throughout the school day.
- Experience supporting children with SEND or Autism is desirable.
- Patient, caring and empathetic nature.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and adaptable.
- Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Specialist SEND training and ongoing CPD.
