Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting enthusiastic and confident individuals to work as Cover Supervisors within secondary schools across Newport. This opportunity is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to build their confidence and develop hands-on experience within education.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom to supervise lessons during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and maintaining a positive learning environment. You will gain first-hand experience managing classrooms, supporting student learning, and working alongside experienced education professionals.

This role provides an excellent foundation for those looking to progress into teacher training, PGCE courses, or long-term careers within education.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects
  • Managing classroom behaviour and ensuring students remain on task
  • Building positive relationships with students and staff
  • Supporting students with their learning and engagement
  • Gaining valuable classroom management experience

No lesson planning or marking is required, making this an ideal stepping stone into teaching.

Requirements

To work with Teaching Personnel, candidates will need:

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two professional references covering the last 24 months
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – (support provided)
  • Completion of a Level 2 Safeguarding course during onboarding

Teaching Personnel will support successful applicants through the full compliance and registration process.
