ASD Assistant - Slough

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in a specialist educational setting?

A specialist SEN school in Slough is seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate ASD Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for individuals with a background or interest in Psychology, Education, Mental Health, Therapy, or Special Educational Needs who want to develop their experience supporting young people with ASD and additional needs.

As an ASD Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with ASD and additional needs.
  • Support students with their communication, social skills, emotional development, and learning.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and positive routines.
  • Use a calm, patient, and supportive approach to help students manage challenges.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide consistent support.
  • Observe and monitor students' behaviour, wellbeing, engagement, and progress.

We're looking for an ASD Assistant who is:

  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
  • A confident communicator with a genuine interest in ASD and SEN.
  • Calm, resilient, and able to remain positive when faced with challenging situations.
  • Interested in developing a career in Psychology, Education, Therapy, Mental Health, or SEN.
  • Able to build strong, positive relationships with young people.
  • Reliable, proactive, and eager to learn.
