Job Responsibilities as an ASD Assistant
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of additional needs.
- Support students with their communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and learning throughout the school day.
- Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to implement individualised support plans and strategies.
- Help students develop their confidence, independence, social skills, and ability to engage positively in the classroom and wider school environment.
What we're looking for in an ASD Assistant
- Compassionate and empathetic - able to understand and respond sensitively to the individual needs of students with Autism.
- Patient and supportive - able to provide consistent reassurance, encouragement, and structure.
- Excellent communication skills - able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents/carers, and other professionals.
- Emotionally resilient - able to remain calm and professional when supporting students experiencing distress, sensory overload, or challenging situations.
