Alternative education sports coach

A specialised alternative provision in Eccles for students excluded from mainstream education, many with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is looking for a dedicated sports coach / learning support assistant. The primary responsibility of the Sports Coach will be to plan and deliver engaging sports activities tailored to the specific needs of our students with SEMH.

We are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where students can thrive both academically and emotionally. Our team is experienced and continually undergoes professional development to enhance our ability to meet the diverse needs of our students. While providing some general support around the provision, the focus will predominantly be on facilitating sports sessions that promote physical activity, teamwork, and personal development.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver sports activities that cater to the individual needs and abilities of students with SEMH.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team to ensure the integration of sports activities into the overall support provision.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment where students feel motivated to participate and develop their skills.
  • Adapt sports sessions as necessary to accommodate the varying needs and abilities of students.
  • Promote the social, emotional, and mental well-being of students through sports participation.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, such as educational psychology services and CAMHS, to support in understanding and meeting the needs of students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong understanding of behavior management techniques. 
  • Ability to adapt sports activities to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
