1-2-1 SEND Tutor - Yeovil & Surrounding Areas, Somerset

Quantum Scholars is expanding its Alternative Provision services across Somerset and is looking to recruit dedicated SEND/SEMH Tutors to support learners across Yeovil and the surrounding areas.

With a significant increase in EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than at School) and Alternative Provision referrals expected from September 2026, we're looking for compassionate, experienced SEND tutors who are passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs re-engage with education.

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition and mentoring, helping learners build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, and achieve meaningful academic and personal progress.

As a SEND Tutor, you'll provide bespoke 1:1 support to primary and secondary-aged learners (5-16 years) who are currently unable to access mainstream education.

Sessions are tailored to each learner's individual needs, combining academic tuition with emotional and pastoral support where appropriate. You'll create engaging, personalised learning experiences that help learners develop confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with education.

Many of the learners we support have a range of additional needs, including:

• SEND
• Autism (ASC)
• ADHD
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
• Trauma or adverse childhood experiences
• Medical needs
• Behavioural challenges

Tuition is delivered on a 1:1 basis, usually in the learner's home or within an appropriate community setting.

We carefully match tutors with learners based on your experience, subject knowledge, confidence, and preferred age groups.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or additional needs.
• Experience delivering tuition or personalised learning programmes.
• A passion for helping learners overcome barriers to education.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach.
• An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• The ability to travel across Yeovil and the surrounding areas. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are highly desirable.
