About the Role:

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a number of welcoming primary schools across Yeovil, Sherborne, Milborne Port, and Templecombe. We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join from September 2026.

A variety of flexible roles are available across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, including 1:1 support positions. These roles offer a fantastic opportunity to support pupils at different stages of their educational journey, particularly those requiring additional emotional, social, or SEN support.

You will play a vital role in helping pupils feel secure, engaged, and ready to learn within supportive school environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support, focusing on emotional, social, and SEN development
  • Support pupils with transitions into classroom routines and school life
  • Assist with structured learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
  • Help maintain a positive, consistent, and supportive daily routine
  • Work closely with class teachers to implement tailored learning strategies
  • Liaise with the SENCo where required to support individual pupil needs

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children is essential (e.g. schools, nurseries, or childcare settings)
  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s development across primary age groups

Safeguarding & Vetting;

All applicants will be subject to comprehensive safeguarding and vetting checks in line with safer recruitment practices, including:

  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Professional references covering the past two years
  • Verification of identity and right to work in the UK
  • Completion of safeguarding and compliance training
