1:1 Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working with a fantastic primary school who have a small SEN provision on site based in the Hackney area. They are seeking two 1:1 Support Assistants to support two pupils with ASC (KS1 and KS2)  The pupils can sometimes show a level of challenging behaviour in the classroom so experience in this area would be hugely beneficial.

This position would be 5 days per week towards the end of May. 

As a 1:1 Support Assistant, you will be required to:

-          Work with the students to help them access their education by implementing focus and brain break sessions.

-          Encourage the students to access the mental health and therapeutic interventions.

-          Liaise with parents/carers and health care professionals to ensure the needs of each pupil are met.

-          Individualise your approach to meet the criteria of the pupils EHCP.

-          Help them to learn to self-regulate their behaviours.

The school would be interested in a candidate who has previous experience supporting children who display challenging behaviours. They would also consider applications from Sports Coaches, Carers, Residential support workers, Youth Workers and those with the experience within the Prison system or the Military.

To be successful, you must:

  • Have 6 months experience working in special needs as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant or Nursery Nurse
  • Be knowledgeable on how to successfully manage behaviour linked to Autism, Mental Health Needs and Learning Difficulties
  • Have completed a Degree or Level 2 or higher Teaching Assistant Qualification
  • Be able to quickly engage and build rapport with pupils
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service, or be willing to complete one through GSL Education
  • Be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who leads by example

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
