This school is a maintained community special school for pupils aged between 10 and 16 who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school serves a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including;

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC);
  • Attention Deficit, (Hyperactivity) Disorder AD(H)D;
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN);
  • Opposition Defiance Disorder (ODD) and Attachment/Conduct disorders

They promote the highest standards of educational achievement at all levels and provide a broad and balanced education experience, personalised according to need.

We are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to work alongside another experienced Teaching Assistant, to support a student on a 2:1 basis. Together you will travel to the students place of living to support with school work and take them out into the communicty to complete engagement activities. 

Key attributes for this role are:

  • Experience of supporting children or adults with SEN needs and/or disabilities SEND especially in SEMH.
  • High expectations of children's progress, attainment, and behaviour.
  • The ability to use your own initiative, focusing on solving problems.
  • Patience, empathy and good communication skills.
  • Organisation and resourcefulness, the ability to work under pressure with good time management skills and a sense of humour.
  • An understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build positive relationships.
  • Has emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes.
