Are you a passionate sports coach looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of young people?

We are recruiting for a unique opportunity to work within a specialist educational setting, supporting students who require additional encouragement, motivation, and engagement to achieve success in education and life.

This is more than just coaching sport. It's about using your enthusiasm, energy, and ability to build positive relationships to inspire young people, raise aspirations, and help students overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As a Sports Coach, you will work with students on both a 1:1 basis, using sport, physical activity, generic learning, and positive engagement strategies to support their personal development and educational journey.

You will become a trusted role model, helping students develop confidence, resilience, self-belief, and the skills needed to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging sports and physical activity sessions.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with students.
  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Using sport as a tool to encourage participation, engagement, and achievement.
  • Promoting teamwork, respect, resilience, and positive behaviours.
  • Motivating young people who may have become disengaged from education.
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day
  • Working closely with teaching and pastoral teams to support individual outcomes.

What We're Looking For

We are interested in hearing from individuals who are:

  • Qualified or experienced sports coaches.
  • Team Teach Trained or willing to complete the required training
  • Passionate about supporting young people’s development
  • Positive role models with excellent communication skills.
  • Patient, resilient, and able to build trust and rapport.
  • Motivated by helping students achieve their potential.

Experience working with young people in schools, academies, alternative provisions, youth work, mentoring, community projects, or sports development programmes would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
