1:1 SEND Tutor - Hereford & Surrounding Areas
Quantum Scholars are seeking confident, patient and passionate SEND Tutors to support young people accessing EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School) and Alternative Provision across Hereford and the surrounding areas.
This is a 1:1 tutoring role, supporting young people who may be outside of mainstream education and require a more personalised and individualised approach to learning.
You may be supporting learners across English, Maths and Science, depending on their individual needs and your subject specialisms. The role would suit someone who is experienced working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs and who understands the importance of building positive relationships, developing confidence and helping learners re-engage with education.
These tuition sessions are referral-based and available during term time only. To be considered for this role, you must have availability during normal school hours.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 tuition to young people accessing EOTAS/AP provision.
- Supporting learners across subjects including English, Maths and Science, depending on individual needs.
- Working with young people who may have SEND and/or SEMH needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, school refusal and behavioural challenges.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with learners.
- Creating a calm, supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Adapting lessons and activities to suit individual needs, abilities and interests.
- Supporting learners to re-engage with education and develop confidence in their learning.
- Encouraging positive engagement, independence and progression.
- Monitoring learner progress and providing feedback on engagement and development.
- Working collaboratively with Quantum Scholars and relevant professionals to ensure appropriate support is provided.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs is essential.
- Experience providing 1:1 tuition, intervention or learning support is highly desirable.
- Confidence supporting learners across English, Maths and/or Science.
- A patient, calm and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching and learning approaches to meet individual needs.
- QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching/tutoring experience is desirable, although candidates with strong SEND/SEMH experience will also be considered.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Ability to travel to learners across Hereford and the surrounding areas.
- Availability during normal school hours.
