We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant secondary school community in Haringey. As a valued member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.

Role: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant
Location: Secondary School in Haringey
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2024

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized support to students with additional learning needs, both in and out of the classroom environment.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring that students' progress is monitored and documented effectively.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff and external professionals to develop strategies and resources that promote student engagement and achievement.
  • Encourage independence and confidence in students, empowering them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, respecting the individual needs and rights of students and their families.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of all students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school community.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
