Job Title: Learning Support Assistant for Year 4 Student with Severe Learning Difficulties

Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide one-to-one support for a Year 4 student with severe learning difficulties. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting the student in accessing the curriculum, developing key skills, and fostering independence within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to the Year 4 student with severe learning difficulties, both academically and emotionally.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalized learning plans and strategies.
  • Adapt teaching materials and resources to suit the student's individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, as required, ensuring the student's comfort and well-being throughout the school day.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where the student feels supported, valued, and encouraged to participate.
  • Monitor the student's progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Work closely with external professionals, such as speech and language therapists or educational psychologists, to implement recommended interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of the student's achievements, progress, and any significant developments.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with severe learning difficulties, preferably within a school setting.
  • Understanding of various learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Flexibility and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (SEN) support are desirable but not essential.
