Join Our Team: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant for Child with ASD and ADHD

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in a child's life? Do you have experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a great school as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant.

We are working with an amazing school based in Bromley that are looking for a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to start after the Easter break.

About the Role: They are seeking a dedicated individual to work as a long-term 1:1 support assistant within their classroom team. Your primary responsibility will be to support a child in Year 5 who has ASD and ADHD. This child finds the classroom environment overstimulating at times and requires sensory breaks and workstation activities in a quiet room. As part of the team, you will work closely with the class team and other specialists, including Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) and Occupational Therapists (OT), who will provide strategies and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with ASD and ADHD
  • Assist the child during sensory breaks and workstation activities
  • Utilize AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) on an iPad for communication
  • Implement TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped Children) methods as directed by specialists and teachers
  • Work on specific target areas with the child
  • Collaborate with the class team and other professionals to support the child's learning and development
  • Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Knowledge of AAC on an iPad
  • Familiarity with TEACCH methods is preferred
  • Strong IT skills
  • Ability to work from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
