A school places emergency is facing England’s schools

The government has been warned that there is a school places emergency facing England’s secondary schools and councils don’t have the powers to meet demand. The warning comes from the Local Government Association (LGA), which points to a rise in the UK’s birth rate in the early 2000’s and say that over the next five years, nearly 130,000 children could miss out on a secondary school place.
