POSITION:Assistant Professor of Youth/Adult Leadership. STARTING DATE: August 2017 or as negotiated. RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a nine-month, tenure-track position in youth/adult leadership with a 75% extension and 25% research responsibility for a scholar whose research focuses on youth and adult leadership, including volunteerism, and related behaviors. The individual who assumes this position could have academic preparation in leadership, adult education, youth development, community development, or closely related fields. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized applied research program focusing on leadership and volunteerism among youth and adults: (a) aligning with organizational and community stakeholder needs; (b) from an organizational impact perspective, (i.e., the impact of and programmatic characteristics that foster continued leadership and volunteerism; and (c) the experience of leaders and volunteers over their life course. This individual may contribute to the resident education mission of the department in the support of undergraduate and graduate courses on volunteerism. These courses include behavioral, skill, and theoretical perspectives in group and individual helping behaviors, effective volunteer recruitment, management, and retention strategies and efficient use of different forms of volunteering (formal and informal). QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Agriculture and Extension Education or related area with a specialization in youth/adult leadership and related behaviors. Applicants should demonstrate excellent quantitative and communication skills and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams. Candidates with experience working with volunteer development and management are preferred. Postdoctoral experience indicating independence and productivity is preferred. An ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students is required. SALARY: Competitive, commensurate with background and experience.
