Job Description

The Department of Physics and Materials Science at the University of Memphis invites applications for
a
tenure-track
faculty position in
Biophysics or Soft Matter Physics
at the assistant professor level, to begin in Fall 2018. We seek qualified candidates in biophysics, soft matter physics or related areas.
Candidates must have a PhD in Physics, or a closely related discipline, and postdoctoral research experience.
The successful candidate
is expected to develop and independent research program, effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor both graduate and undergraduate students, and provide services to the Department and/or University.
The
Department of Physics and Materials Science at the University of Memphis () offers BS, MS and PhD programs.
The faculty of the department are actively engaged in experimental and theoretical/computational research in biophysics, nanophotonics, biophotonics, soft matter, nanomaterials, semiconductors, magnetic materials and biomaterials. The University of Memphis has a wide range of research infrastructure including a microscopy facility, a micro/nanofabrication facility, a wide range of techniques for structural and chemical characterizations, and a high performance computing facility.
