The curriculum is broad, balanced and ambitious, with a strong focus on developing pupils' knowledge, skills and curiosity about the world. Outdoor learning is an important part of the school approach and they are proud of their developing Forest School provision which supports pupils' wellbeing, independence and resilience.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to lead the mixed Year 3/4 class. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, create a positive learning environment and support pupils to make strong progress across the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
The role includes contributing to the outdoor learning and Forest School provision, using the outdoor environment to enrich the curriculum and support pupils' personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-sequenced lessons that reflect a broad and ambitious Key Stage 2 curriculum
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and those requiring additional support for both lower attainment as well as high attainment
- Use formative and summative assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform future planning
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning and presentation, implementing school processes and policies
Daily Classroom Responsibilities
- Establish clear routines and maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment
- Deliver high-quality teaching in core subjects and the wider curriculum
- Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning activities
- Provide timely feedback to pupils in line with school assessment policies
- Work effectively with teaching assistants to support pupil learning
- Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to pupil progress discussions
- Communicate effectively with parents/ carers regarding learning and wellbeing
Outdoor Learning and Forest School
- Plan and deliver regular outdoor learning opportunities that enhance the curriculum, utilising an incredible outdoor learning space
- Support the development of the school's Forest School programme
- Encourage teamwork, resilience and problem-solving through outdoor activities
- Ensure outdoor learning experiences are safe, inclusive and purposeful
Wider Professional Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support whole-school priorities
- Contribute to staff meetings, planning and professional development
- Participate in school events, trips and extracurricular activities
- Uphold the school's safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies

- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Is committed to high-quality teaching and improving outcomes for all pupils
- Confident with the Year 3/ 4 UK curriculum
- Has strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Values outdoor learning and is enthusiastic about Forest School education (training desirable but not essential)
- Is reflective, motivated and committed to professional development
- Works well as part of a supportive team
