Position: Behaviour Support Assistant

Pay: 10 per hour (PAYE)

Location: South East Wales – Caerphilly

Contract: Supply | Part-time  | Full time

Start date: CORONAVIRUS NOTICE: Teaching Personnel are still recruiting staff during this time of crisis, in preparation for vacancies to start in the eventuality of schools reopening on Monday the 29th of June.

 

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit fluent welsh Behaviour Support Assistants to work in Welsh Medium Primary Schools in preparation for when schools re-open. Teaching Personnel work closely with schools who are looking for day to day, part-time, and full time staff to help and support the needs of individual pupils in their mainstream setting or resource bases. 

The ability to communicate through the medium of welsh is essential for this post.

 

Expectations of the job

  • To Support students who have a statement of Special Educational Needs: cognition and learning; emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • To encourage and support the learning process of the child both on one-to-one basic and within a group
  • To work with the child individually or in a group on a programme of activities planned and directed by the teacher
  • To help the child to focus his/her attention and keep on the task
  • To help the child develop positive relationships with other children and adults.
  • To be ready to listen to the child and offer appropriate support when necessary
  • To use techniques of reward and time out as part of a behavioural programme
  • To support and implement school behaviour policy.

 

If you have previous experience working as a support assistant or have personal experience managing and supporting challenging behaviour, then this is the job for you!

If you have limited or no experience but have a keen passion and desire to make a difference, we have various CPD courses that could help you begin your journey.

What will happen next?

If successful, all interviews for positions will be conducted over Video Call Conference and you will be expected to attend a face-to-face interview where we can verify your documents prior to commencing the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
