Teaching Assistant - Reception Role Supporting a Pupil with High Emotional Needs

A nurturing primary school in North London is seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to support a young boy in their Reception class with high emotional needs. This role requires someone patient, empathetic, and confident in providing tailored support to help the child thrive both academically and socially.

• Provide 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with high emotional needs, offering reassurance and encouragement throughout the school day.
• Implement strategies to help regulate emotions, manage transitions, and promote positive behaviour.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to ensure the child's individual needs are met effectively.
• Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment where the child feels safe and supported.
• Support the overall class when needed, helping to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with children with high emotional needs or similar challenges.
• A calm, patient, and understanding approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
• Confident in managing challenging situations and able to adapt to the needs of the child.
• A proactive individual who can take initiative and work collaboratively with the school team.
• Holds an Enhanced DBS or is willing to process one through Reeson Education.
