Learning Support Assistant - Taunton

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Mainstream Primary School in the Taunton area in Somerset who are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work with  a Year 5 pupil with Special Educational Needs on a full time basis from Septemeber 2020.

The role:

You will be working 1-1 with a pupil with learning difficulties and ADHD, who can sometimes display cases of challening behaviour. You will be responsible for helping the Year 5 pupil with their class work, their emotional mentoring and using de escalation techniques when required. You will also assist the Class Teacher with classroom duties, communication with parents and keeping a daily log of the pupil's behaviour. Ideally you will have previous experience in a similar role, and have some knowledge of the Primary curriculum. 

To thrive in the role, it’s essential that you have:

  • A positive, caring, energetic, can-do attitude
  • An understanding of safeguarding children
  • A genuine interest in aiding children’s development
  • Experience working with children with autism
  • Good behaviour management

The role:

  • Mainstream Primary School - Year 5
  • Full time, Monday - Friday
  • Hours approximately, 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Taunton, Somerset
  • GBP10 - GBP11 per hour
