Teaching Assistant (TA) - Pupil Referral Unit

Location: Cardiff
Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our small Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Cardiff. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in supporting young people with challenging behavior, as you’ll play a key role in guiding students through a supportive and structured learning environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and individual support plans.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic growth.
  • Supporting behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and positive environment.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff, specialists, and families to develop effective, personalized learning strategies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a similar setting, especially with young people who demonstrate challenging behavior.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and compassionate under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
