Job Description:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated, friendly, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 3 pupil who has Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and autism. This role is based in a supportive primary school in Wellingborough, where you will play a crucial role in helping this pupil thrive both academically and socially.

  • Provide tailored, 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with SEMH and autism, creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with daily classroom activities, implementing strategies to support the pupil’s individual learning and emotional needs.
  • Encourage social interactions, build confidence, and promote positive behavior through patience and understanding.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SEN team to adapt resources and teaching methods to meet the pupil’s specific requirements.
  • Track progress and feedback to the SENCO and parents to ensure continuous support for the child’s development.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a primary school or 1:1 setting with children who have additional needs (preferably SEMH and/or autism).
  • Skills: Friendly, outgoing, patient, and empathetic, with a genuine commitment to supporting children’s well-being and learning.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or certifications in SEN support are preferred but not essential.
