The Specifics:

The Special Educational Needs schools that we work with support young pupil’s to develop their learning and development, emotional wellbeing and social skills.  As an Support Assistant you will support students to cope better with the tasks and activities they find challenging, as well as enhance the skills that they do well.  The successful SEN TA will help establish positive and healthy relationships with learners and staff alike.  This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking for a change and have a keen interest in special needs.

We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing the highest standards of care and facilitating opportunities for learning. Previous experience of looking after children with autism and other learning needs would be an advantage, and a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Supporting learners through their school day
  • 1:1 and group work will be required
  • Actively plan and join in play and activities including swimming, ball games, messy play and music
  • Be prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of people
  • Show resilience when placed in a variety of situations, some which may be challenging!
  • Keep records and write reports when required
  • Assist with implementing each learners individual progression plans
  • Ensure the highest level of safety and safeguarding at all times

Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting a Teacher and 2 or 3 fellow Teaching Assistants, so a good level of communication and team work is essential!

The working hours will be between 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday. Full time is preferred but part time applicants may still apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
