Teaching Personnel are working with an SEMH specialist provision who are looking to recruit a Swimming Instructor/Teaching Assistant to join their friendly team.


A newly established SEMH academy based in Tooting Bec are looking to recruit a very strong SEMH TA who is experienced in working with students with mental health difficulties and behavioural challenges. The provision is for boys aged 5-19 years, all with SEMH needs and an EHCP. 

The school have an award winning farm and allotment where the eggs are sold in the local community and fruit and vegetables used in school meals! Furthermore, they have some excellent facilities and recently refurbished classrooms. 


About the role:

  • Swimming instructor and Teaching Assistant role- this is a combined role, in which for 2/3 days per week you would work as a Swimming Instructor at the local lido teaching the students from this school. On the other days, you would be working in a classroom setting. 
  • Fantastic opportunity for a Sports Coach/Swimming Instructor who wants to gain more experience in a school or wants a varied role or a qualified teacher/coach who is looking for a less demanding work week
  • The students at the school have an EHCP and have SEMH difficulties- experience with these needs and challenging behaviours is essential 
  • You will be working with students of all ages up to 19
  • Monday to Friday during school hours 
  • Very competitive daily rate! Starting at £85 per day for a TA/coach and £115 for a qualified teacher

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs and/or behaviours that challenge
  • A good knowledge, understanding and background of working with young adolescents with SEMH needs - psychology, child development and criminology degrees desirable
  • TA qualification desirable
  • Sports coaching/swimming coaching experience essential
  • Team Teach and Thrive Practitioner qualifications desirable
  • Excellent references
