Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Student Support Officer to join one of our partner secondary schools in Newport. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
As a Student Support Officer, you'll be part of the school's Inclusion Team, working closely with staff and students to promote positive behaviour and create a supportive learning environment. You'll work 1:1 with students who require behavioural support and help implement the school's behaviour management strategy.
Work with students displaying disruptive behaviour in the Student Support Centre (SSC)
Provide 1:1 support and a calm, structured learning environment
Act as a liaison between students and teaching staff
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate discretion at all times
Use initiative to work independently and collaboratively
Support and contribute to the school's performance management process
NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or 6+ months of relevant experience
Strong behaviour management and conflict resolution skills
Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Enhanced DBS check on the Child Workforce Register (or willingness to apply)
Registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
Two recent professional references (covering the last 24 months)
