About the Role:
We are looking for passionate, compassionate, and dedicated individuals to join a team as Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants at a specialist school in Totton, Southampton. The school caters to a wide range of mixed special needs, including medical needs that require personal care and complex learning disabilities. Staff may be required to work across both the primary and secondary age sites to support our pupils' diverse learning needs.
In this rewarding role, you will work closely with students to support their learning and development in both classroom and individual settings. You will be involved in promoting the welfare and well-being of students while assisting teachers in delivering personalised educational programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with complex learning disabilities and medical needs.
- Assist with personal care requirements where necessary, including feeding, toileting, and moving and handling.
- Support the delivery of educational activities and interventions.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- Encourage students' social and emotional development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Adapt to the needs of each student, using your initiative and creativity.
About You:
- Experience working with children or adults with special needs is preferred but not essential.
- A caring and empathetic nature, with a strong commitment to supporting students' personal and educational development.
- Flexibility and the ability to work across both primary and secondary age sites as required.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
- A willingness to undertake relevant training to further develop your skills and knowledge.
- A positive and patient attitude towards all pupils, especially those with complex needs.
