We are looking for a compassionate, patient and enthusiastic SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team. This role involves working closely with a child who has additional learning needs, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially.

Position: SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-time
Location: Burnley
Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs in line with their EHCP.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to ensure accessibility and engagement.
  • Support the pupil’s emotional regulation, social development and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals.
  • Implement personalised strategies, interventions and behaviour support plans.
  • Maintain accurate notes and contribute to progress reviews.
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive and encouraging classroom environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g., autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs) is highly desirable.
  • A calm, positive and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children and staff.
  • A willingness to learn and implement new strategies.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, SEND training) are beneficial but not essential.
