SEN Teacher

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualised and group lessons to students with mental health challenges, ensuring they receive appropriate academic support.
• Create a safe, calm, and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and understood.
• Work closely with school counsellors, SEN (Special Educational Needs) coordinators, and other mental health professionals to develop and implement personalised learning plans.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the emotional and learning needs of each student.
• Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and promoting resilience.
• Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve academic and personal goals.
• Encourage students to develop coping skills, build confidence, and improve their emotional well-being.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and involve them in their child’s educational and emotional development.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience working with students with mental health challenges, SEN, or other complex needs.
• Strong understanding of how mental health impacts learning and behaviour.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a nurturing and empathetic approach.
• Ability to differentiate lessons and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
• Training or qualifications in mental health, psychology, or SEN is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
