Teaching Personnel are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistants to work full-time in SEN and SEMH schools across Bolton. This role involves supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs and social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them to engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.

This is a rewarding role for individuals who are patient, resilient, and passionate about making a positive difference in young people's lives.

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning

  • Assist teachers with delivering tailored learning activities and interventions

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and wellbeing

  • Support pupils with personal care where required

  • Implement behaviour support strategies and follow individual education plans (IEPs)

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

  • Accurately record observations and progress where required

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • ADHD

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)

  • Learning Difficulties

  • Trauma and attachment needs

  • Challenging behaviour

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH (school, care, youth work, or similar settings)

  • Ability to work full-time only (Monday-Friday)

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to support behaviour management and emotional needs

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

  • Previous experience in SEN or SEMH schools

  • Team Teach or behaviour management training
