Are you a patient, resilient, and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chalfont St Giles is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.

The school is known for its therapeutic approach and commitment to nurturing pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs. You’ll be part of a supportive team that values every child’s progress and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions and engage in learning
  • Build trusting relationships to encourage positive behaviour and emotional resilience
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed approaches
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement personalised support plans
  • Create a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural challenges, or trauma (in education or care settings)
  • Be calm, adaptable, and committed to inclusive education
  • Communicate effectively and work well within a team
  • Be confident using behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation tools
  • Be open to ongoing training and professional development
