A supportive and nurturing Alternative Provision in Burgess Hill is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Primary Teacher to join the team from September on a part-time basis (3 days per week).

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require a more personalised and therapeutic approach to education.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to a small class of primary-aged pupils with additional emotional and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will create a calm, consistent and supportive learning environment that helps pupils build confidence, resilience and positive relationships with education.

Working closely with support staff and external professionals, you will play a key role in helping pupils achieve both academically and emotionally.

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience working with primary-aged pupils
  • Understands SEMH needs and trauma-informed practice
  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Is calm, patient and resilient
  • Has strong behaviour management skills with a nurturing approach
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience within alternative provision, SEN or SEMH settings is desirable but not essential
