School Caretaker

Location: Gillingham / Medway

We are currently seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join our team at a reputable school located in Whitstable in Kent.

Job Responsibilities:

- Conduct regular inspections of the school premises to identify areas in need of maintenance, repairs, or improvements.

- Respond promptly to any maintenance requests or emergencies throughout the school day.

- Carry out general repairs, including plumbing, painting, carpentry, and electrical tasks.

- Assist with the setup of classrooms, meetings, and events, including furniture arrangement and equipment setup.

- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of all school areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and outdoor spaces.

- Oversee the maintenance and operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular risk assessments and addressing any identified hazards.

- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including completed tasks and inventory management.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in building maintenance or a related field is preferred.

- Knowledge of general repair and maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

- Excellent organisational and time management skills.

- Flexible work approach and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

- Good communication skills and ability to interact with staff, students, and external contractors.

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and willingness to ensure compliance in all areas.

- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour tasks as required.
