An innovative and rapidly improving all-through Foundation Special School in Oxford is seeking a skilled and dynamic School Business Manager to join its permanent staff from January 2025.

Key Responsibilities

The School Business Manager will:

  • Oversee the school’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Lead and manage non-teaching staff, ensuring efficient administration and operational support.
  • Drive strategic planning for the effective use of resources to support the school’s development goals.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices in health and safety, safeguarding, and governance.
  • Manage the school’s estate, including facilities and premises development.
  • Lead on income generation initiatives and partnership building to enhance resources.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong background in financial and business management, ideally within an education or public-sector context.
  • Relevant qualifications in finance, business administration, or school business management (e.g., CSBM, DSBM, or equivalent).
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and implement operational plans effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • A commitment to upholding the ethos and values of a special education setting.
  • Knowledge of the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks in education is highly desirable.
