Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Full-Time Role in Stockport
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Stockport. This is a full-time position, starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week.
This role is ideal for a psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting, particularly those considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, mental health support, or special educational needs (SEN). You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to support students with a range of learning needs and emotional well-being challenges.
- One-to-One and Small-Group Support: Provide tailored interventions for students with additional learning needs, including those with autism, ADHD, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, and other special educational needs.
- Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering lessons, ensuring that all students can engage with the curriculum effectively.
- Behaviour and Emotional Support: Work with students who may need help with emotional regulation and behaviour management, using de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement.
- Assisting with SEN Provisions: Support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) by implementing strategies to help them progress academically and socially.
- Monitoring Progress: Track students' progress and provide feedback to teachers, SENCOs, and parents where necessary.
- Promoting Well-Being: Help create a safe and supportive environment for students to develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
- A Psychology Graduate (or a related field): A strong academic background in psychology, with an interest in education and child development.
- Experience Supporting Young People (Desirable): This can include work in a school, care setting, youth work, tutoring, or voluntary roles.
- Strong Communication and Relationship-Building Skills: Ability to engage and build trust with students, staff, and parents.
- Resilience and Adaptability: A patient and understanding approach, with the ability to adapt to different learning needs and classroom environments.
