Pupils don’t need reminding what school is anymore.
They need pushing to do more with what they already know.

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will support pupils in developing independence, deeper understanding, and stronger learning habits ahead of their final primary year.

Key responsibilities
Teach Year 5 curriculum across all subjects
Plan lessons with clear structure and challenge
Support pupils to develop independence
Monitor progress and provide targeted support
Prepare pupils for Year 6 expectations
Maintain strong classroom routines
Work collaboratively with staff and parents

The classroom environment
Expectations are clear and consistent
Learning is structured and progressive
Behaviour is calm and controlled
Pupils take responsibility for their work

Skills and experience
Experience teaching KS2
Strong classroom management
Ability to challenge pupils effectively
Organisation and planning

What success looks like
Pupils become more independent
Confidence increases
Work improves in quality and detail

QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with upper KS2 experience
