This is the final year before secondary.
Pupils don’t just need teaching — they need preparing.

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will support pupils through a key transition stage, building confidence, independence, and readiness for secondary school expectations.

Key responsibilities
Teach the Year 6 curriculum across core subjects
Prepare pupils for SATs assessments
Build confidence in literacy and numeracy
Encourage independent learning habits
Monitor progress and provide targeted intervention
Maintain structured and focused classroom routines
Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues

The classroom environment
Lessons are focused and purposeful
Pupils understand expectations clearly
Learning is structured and consistent
Behaviour is calm and controlled

Skills and experience
Experience teaching upper KS2
Strong understanding of SATs requirements
Ability to manage a focused classroom
Good organisation and planning

What success looks like
Pupils are prepared for secondary school
Confidence increases across all subjects
Results improve steadily
Classroom routines are strong and consistent

QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with upper KS2 experience
