A warm and supportive school in Stevenage is looking for a committed PMLD Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This full-time, term-time position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, patient, and proactive, with a passion for supporting children with complex and profound needs. As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to children with PMLD, ensuring they receive the best possible care and learning opportunities.

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD, including personal care, sensory activities, and communication support.

  • Assist with delivering individualised learning plans, helping students progress at their own pace and overcome challenges.

  • Support with personal care needs, including feeding, mobility, and hygiene as required.

  • Encourage social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour in a calm and structured environment.

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for each child.

  • Help adapt resources and classroom activities to meet the needs of students with profound disabilities, ensuring full accessibility.

  • Keep accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to regular meetings and reviews.

  • Experience supporting children with PMLD or complex SEN needs is highly desirable.

  • A patient, calm, and compassionate approach to working with children with profound disabilities.

  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students, colleague
