Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Henley-on-Thames (RG) area to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Class Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to join a nurturing environment and make a meaningful impact during the early stages of pupils’ education.

This role would suit an engaging and creative teacher with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, who is committed to fostering a love of learning and supporting pupils’ academic and social development.

As a KS1 Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils through a key stage in their learning journey, helping to build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development.

  • Planning and delivering engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
  • Supporting pupils’ progress in phonics, early reading, writing, and maths
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data-driven teaching and targeted interventions
  • Supporting pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEN
  • Promoting confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
  • Experience within Early Years or Key Stage 1
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics frameworks (e.g., Little Wandle)
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • A creative, nurturing, and engaging teaching style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work full-time in the Henley (RG) area from September
  • Experience teaching Year 1 or Year 2
  • Expertise in phonics delivery and early reading development
  • Experience preparing pupils for Year 2 assessments
  • Experience supporting children with SEN
  • Knowledge of assessment and progress tracking
