Permanent Teacher of Humanities with SEN specific and mainstream classes
A Secondary school in Portsmouth is looking for a permanent teacher of Humanities for January. The role will be full time Monday to Friday. There is an opportunity for you to begin sooner, should you be available. The school has strong leadership with a clear vision for the school. It continues to make improvements to in all areas of the school including staff CPD within the academy, behaviour policies, rewards systems and specific needs being met for SEN and SEMH pupils.
You will be delivering the Humanities curriculum which will involved teaching History, Geography and RE. The majority of the timetable will focus upon Geography and History, though this can be altered to suit for the right Teacher. Included within your timetable will be the delivery of Humanities lessons to the schools SEN nurture unit and SEMH unit, both consisting of lower level pupils who have a higher ratio of support staff in place throughout.
You'll need to have UK QTS and some recent teaching experience, ideally within the UK curriculum or equivalent. It would be advantageous if you have previous experience in working with pupils with SEN and/or pupils with challenging behaviour due to the nature of the mixed timetable.
The school is excellently located for transport with quick links to the motorway, parking on site, a train station a short 3 minute walk away and local bus stations nearby.
The school can consider pay scales between M2 - UPS3 dependent on your experience. On a case by case basis, they may be able to consider an NQT.
