A forward-thinking SEN school in Plymouth is seeking caring, committed and adaptable individuals to join the team as part-time Education, Health and Care Assistants (EHCAs). This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people aged 2-19 with complex physical, medical and learning needs.
Every pupil at the school has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and as an EHCA, you'll play a vital role in delivering tailored support that promotes wellbeing, independence, and access to learning.
The Role:
Working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils' learning and personal development under the guidance of teaching and medical staff.
Assisting with personal care, emotional support, and classroom activities.
Undertaking specialist medical training (e.g. gastrostomy, epilepsy care - full training provided).
Helping to create a safe, inclusive and positive environment for all pupils.

You are someone who:
Enjoys working with children and young people with additional needs.
Can follow instructions while also using initiative.
Is a strong team player and an excellent communicator.
Is open to learning new skills and undertaking medical or care training.
Can manage the physical demands of a hands-on role.
Essential Requirements:
NVQ/Diploma Level 2 (or equivalent) in education, health, or care.
GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills).
Experience working with children.
Desirable:
NVQ/Diploma Level 3 or higher.
Experience in a school or care setting supporting individuals with complex needs.
Knowledge of communication approaches such as Makaton, PECS, or Total Communication.
