A Primary school in Blackburn (BB1) are seeking to appoint a confident and approachable English graduate to provide additional support in their school. The successful English specialist will be fulfilling the role of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) working and assisting within English classes in KS2. Guided Reading, comprehension & SPAG are areas being focused on for pupils in Key Stage 2. Therefore the school have decided to present a fantastic opportunity for a graduate to work at this supportive primary school and gain valuable experience for an individual potentially interested in one day starting their PGCE.

This role is ideal for an English graduate (or related subject area) who is considering undertaking a PGCE in the future or for a graduate who wants more experience within a school setting. The successful English graduate will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working with teachers and support staff alike, collaborating and working with them to get the best out of all students being supported. If you are a graduate from any related background including Philosophy, Drama, English Literature or Language looking into an education-based career then apply now to be considered for this full time Learning Support Assistant position. The start date will be from September 2021 and will be classed as a future teacher’s position. The school are looking to appoint on a full year supply contract, which would be an excellent opportunity to gain school experience and then progress onto a form of teaching training in September 2022.

The school being located in the BB1 are of Blackburn is very easily accessible via public transport, if you don’t drive. The Senior Leadership Team is highly supportive with the school regularly supporting students on placements whilst at College and University.  As the successful graduate, you will be working in a support capacity, working with pupils in a full class setting as well as on a 1:1 basis or in small group settings. This could be in the form of intervention or providing English support to students who require it the most. This role will allow the successful graduate to gain the necessary experience to support a future PGCE application or allow them to be involved and gain understanding of the education sector.
