Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dynamic Food Technology Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Levenshulme. Key Responsibilities:
- Inspirational Teaching: Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students, ensuring lessons align with curriculum requirements and stimulate a passion for culinary arts and nutrition.
- Practical Skills Development: Facilitate hands-on cooking and food preparation activities, helping students develop essential culinary skills, food safety knowledge, and an understanding of nutrition.
- Curriculum Planning: Develop and adapt schemes of work to meet the diverse needs of students while promoting creativity and innovation in the subject.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess student performance regularly, providing constructive feedback and support to help all learners reach their potential.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment that encourages engagement and collaboration.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all practical activities comply with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe workspace for both students and staff.
- Resource Management: Manage food supplies, equipment, and classroom resources effectively, ensuring lessons are well-prepared and materials are used efficiently.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in the Design and Technology department to share best practices and contribute to a cohesive and innovative curriculum.
- Pastoral Support: Provide pastoral care and support to students, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Engagement and Extracurricular Activities: Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and parent evenings, contributing to the wider school community.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Food Technology or a related subject.
- Relevant Experience: Experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school setting, with a strong understanding of curriculum expectations and practical lesson delivery.
- Subject Enthusiasm: Passionate about teaching Food Technology, with a commitment to fostering creativity, practical skills, and a deep understanding of nutrition and food science.
- Health and Safety Awareness: Thorough knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring all lessons meet the highest safety standards.
